The Benefits of Fish

There are many benefits to introducing fish into your dog's diet and we're going to outline just a few of these below!

Maintaining healthy skin and coat

Fish is a great souce of protein, which is key for keeping your pup's coat healthy and glossy. Protein is essential in your dogs diet as it is broken down within the body and becomes the building block for many functions. A large percentage of protein goes straight into supporting the skin and fur of your dog.

Keeping eyesight sharp

Fish is packed with naturally occuring vitamins and minerals that help to maintain the health of your dog's eyes. Some of these include Vitamin A, Selenium, Zinc and Omega 3.

Hypoallergenic

Fish is hypoallergenic, so is a great protein alternative to meat and poultry sensitive dogs. Even if your pup isn't allergic to other proteins, fish is still a great addition to their diet.

As well as this, Omega 3 can help to prevent dry, itchy skin.

Maintaining good dental health

Giving your dog dried fish (like our Chunks and Batons!) is a great way to naturally remove plaque and tartar from their teeth. As the Batons especially take a bit of chewing, the layers of dried fish skin gently brush away at your pups teeth, helping to maintain good dental health.

Gentle on digestion

Unlike other dog treats such as rawhide (Do NOT give your dog rawhide!), ones high in gluten or grains or highly processed treats, natural fish treats are easy for you dog to digest. As they are 100% natural and not highly processed, your pup's body will have no problem breaking them down in the digestion process.

Aids joint mobility

Omega 3 has anti-inflammatory properties and can help to strengthen your dog's joints. Dogs, like humans cannot produce Omega 3 so it has to be consumed daily to see the benefits. It's important for your pup's joints in the long run, as ensuring they are getting Omega 3 and plently of exercise will help to prevent issues as they get older.
